Homeowner Tips

During re-roofing, your home will be a construction site. Listed below are some things you can expect and some steps you can take to make the project go smoothly.

  • You will be notified in advance of when re-roofing materials will be delivered. In most cases, the materials will be placed on one side of the driveway. Please make sure your vehicle(s) are out of the garage and driveway before the material arrives. 0% of the total cost of the job will be due once the material arrives.

  • If you're getting your old roof torn off, there will be a large dumpster, truck or trailer on the other side of the driveway in which to throw the old roofing.

  • If you're having your roof re-decked, please have your belongings stored in the attic covered. Debris such as wood, nails and shingles may fall into the attic during the tear-off process. We will do our best to minimize the mess.

  • There may be several vehicles owned by the workers parked in front of your house and the neighbors, so you may want to notify neighbors that there will be unfamiliar vehicles in the neighborhood for a few days during construction.

  • It is a good idea to protect your valuables by removing items hanging on the exterior walls and placing them on the floor until work is completed. Please remove any outdoor items around the eves that may be damaged by falling shingles, such as furniture, hanging baskets and potted plants. We will gladly assist you in moving these and any other items you wish.

  • There may be a lot of debris on the ground. It is not uncommon for the old roofing materials to fall on top of flowers, shrubs, etc. If you have particular plants you need protected, please point these out to the crew supervisor before they begin. Use of tarps may burn grass, flowers and shrubs in hot weather, so we do not use tarps to cover foliage. If there is a pool, it will be covered by a tarp before work begins.

  • Areas near and around the house are not safe areas for children and pets during construction. We ask that you please keep pets and children away from the jobsite for their protection.

  • Plan for loud noise inside the house. There will be hammering throughout the process. You may want to leave any pets at a neighbors' house as the noise can be stressful for some pets.

  • Typically, work will begin early in the morning and may not end until sundown. If you would prefer to have specific work hours, please notify us before we begin and we would be happy to accommodate. Please note, however, this may extend the project length.

  • At the end of the job, we will clean roofing debris from the jobsite and nail roll the yard. Gutters will be cleaned of roofing debris. If the gutters are excessively clogged with leaves and branches, you will be notified so you can have your gutters professionally cleaned.

  • Upon completion, we will walk the grounds with you to make sure the job has been completed to your satisfaction. We will then collect 100% of the balance.
